Two signs commercial refrigeration door parts need replaced

Doors are often taken for granted on commercial refrigeration systems, but they’re actually a vital part that allows refrigeration equipment to operate at peak efficiency. However, old or damaged door parts will need to be replaced periodically throughout the system’s lifespan. If you’re wondering how you’ll know when commercial refrigeration door components need to be repaired or replaced, you should pay attention to these two signs.

  1. Temperature fluctuations

It may sound silly, but doors are designed to be opened and closed. For commercial refrigeration systems, having doors allows people to access food stored inside. However, they’re also a vital factor in keeping cold air inside the system.

Keeping in cold air is the job of door components like seals, hinges and latches. All these parts help ensure that the door opens and closes properly as well. Unfortunately, these components may become less effective as they age, or they may be damaged in some way. In both cases, the doors may fail to close properly and allow cold air to escape from the system. Therefore, one sign that the door components of your commercial refrigeration systems may need repaired or replaced is when your system has trouble maintaining a set temperature.

2.   Higher energy bills

Many business owners have experienced a high energy bill. But, you may not be aware that commercial refrigeration door parts that need replaced or repaired may be responsible for such a bill.

As has already been mentioned, old or damaged door components can allow cold air to escape the system. This makes it harder for your refrigeration equipment to maintain the correct temperature, but it will try to. In fact, components like compressors, cooling fans and condensers will run more to compensate for the cold air that’s escaping. As these components are running more, they’ll require increased amounts of energy, and this may lead to a spike in your energy bills.
