How to tell if commercial refrigeration parts need replaced

Commercial refrigeration systems are complex, and this means they have many parts that are vital to their operation. However, not everyone is aware of the signs that certain components need to be replaced or repaired. Here are two signs that you need to have commercial refrigeration system parts repaired or replaced.

  1. Difficulty maintaining temperature

Commercial refrigeration systems like freezers and refrigerated cases are typically used to store food. This means that they have to be able to maintain a certain temperature so the food is stored properly. One indication that it’s time to replace parts in your commercial refrigeration equipment is that your systems can’t maintain the correct temperature.

It doesn’t take very much to throw off a refrigeration system’s ability to maintain a set temperature. For instance, your system could have old or damaged door seals that are allowing cold air to escape. It may also have a dirty compressor that’s creating extra heat. Even a damaged cooling fan can lead to increases in case temperature. To ensure these problems don’t lead to more serious issues, you should call a commercial refrigeration system repair service if you notice systems struggling to maintain their set temperature.

2.   Higher than normal energy usage

Another indication that your systems may have components that need replaced or repaired is that they’re using more energy than normal. For instance, a damaged door hinge can be enough to increase energy usage even though it seems like a minor issue.

After all, without properly operating door hinges, the doors one your refrigeration system won’t shut correctly. This can lead to gaps through which cold air can escape. As cold air escapes the system, other system components like compressors and condensers will have to run more to try to keep the interior of the system cold, and this extra running will cause your systems to use more energy than normal.
